Membership and Benefits
SHAP3D industry partnerships bring together university and industry researchers to conduct fundamental research to advance additive manufacturing to meet the needs of our industry partners. The center enables: the rational design and creation of new material feedstocks and the understanding of material properties, protocols, and design rules that must be characterized and developed to optimize the process and predict the properties of products and parts created from multiple materials.
SHAP3D industry members will comprise the Industry Advisory Board, which votes on research proposals developed jointly with University faculty, and then mentors the selected projects to ensure high-value results.
As an industry partner, you’ll receive many benefits, such as:
- Shared research: Leveraging funding via sponsorships from NSF and other industry partners. Industry members who financially support the Center will serve on the Industry Advisory Board to steer the Center direction and have voting rights on which projects to be funded. Projects receiving highest member votes will be funded first.
- Research Access: Learning the latest research and technology developments before competitors.
- Recruitment: Gaining access to highly trained students.
- Inventions: Obtaining exclusive licenses.
- Collaborative Research: Leading to joint proposals to other federal agencies.
